Today I spotted this video, and I simply loved it. It really sums up all the imaginations of the beautiful everyday women who choose to work with me.
In the weeks before every boudoir or beauty client session, I like to do a client consultation by phone. I want to get to know them...To get a sense of their style, passion, their heart. One of the questions that I always ask is...
"What's your era?"...
It's usually followed by some radio silence. And then, I explain further...

I like to imagine that all of us are from another place and time. That could be past tense or future tense, but I think each person has an essence that is quintessentially, "otherworldly."
Maybe this sounds a lot like reincarnation. But I like to think of it that way...

Because, for many, the photo session IS a reincarnation. They rediscover themselves, get reacquainted with aspects of their beauty, or perhaps even meet IT for the first time. It is not denying the fact it's a wonderful thing to live in "the present", but I love that for just a day or so she can be larger than the moment. And every time she looks at her album or wall art, she is reminded that she is bigger than any life moment she encounters -- good or bad.

HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT DAILY COLORS AND MAKEUP FOR YOUR SKIN TONES
Have you ever found yourself saying, "I'm a summer girl", or "I look great in yellow"? Are there some colors that look fantastic on you...and others not so much?
I'm a fair skinned, blonde-haired blue eyed Irish girl who spent plenty of my prime lifeguarding in the New York City heat. Fair, freckled and a little sun damaged, I have always struggled with finding compatible colors with my skin tone. All that I knew was I (along with all my ancestors) looked terrific in green. (My Irish eyes are smiling now).
As a New York/New Jersey Boudoir & Glamour Photographer I am always on the lookout for beauty tips that will serve my clients well in their hair, makeup and wardrobe choices. Today I came across this amazing chart, which outlines some very helpful ways to identify your skin tone and compliment it. Using this chart, you can identify your best worn hues and cosmetic tones.
Though we cannot always give the exact reason why, we are naturally drawn to certain seasons. This chart brings a bit of insight as to why!

Our wonderful collaborator, Makeup Artistry by Miranda Richards is now casting female (pro and non-professional models welcome), ages 20-40, for a Bridal-styled shoot by Cate Scaglione. All looks, sizes, and ethnicities are most welcomed for consideration.
This is a great opportunity for upcoming brides to do a makeup trial and mini-photo session all in one!
As part of this opportunity, you will be provided with:
- Hair, makeup, and some wardrobe styling.
- High res-Digital file of your bridal look(s)
- A complimentary professional headshot session (with no session/nor styling fees) for professional or social media use; If you choose, and you may also purchase the file or print.
Candidates will be chosen by MakeupArtistry by Miranda Richards exclusively. To be considered, please message "LIKE" her Facebook page and message Miranda on her page. Only selected model applicants will be contacted by Miranda. Scheduling to take place August through September in NJ locations. Makeup How-To: The Perfect Black Winged Eyeliner
Learn how to do this and you're set for anything.

Step 1. Tools and product are crucial to perfecting this look. Use an extra fine eyeliner brush and a black cream eyeliner to draw a small line at the end of where you want your winged liner to stop.
Step 2. Draw a line upwards from the outter corner of your top lashline to connect to the end of your wing creating a V shape or your "wing outline."
Step 3. Connect the line on top from the inner corner of the lash line all the way to your "wing outline" and then fill in the rest.
Step 4. Finish with two coats of your favorite black mascara on both the top and bottom lashes.
